Second Opinions

Getting a second opinion from another dentist on a dental problem is sometimes the most important decision a person can make. In most cases, when a patient wants a second opinion, he or she lacks confidence in their current dentist and/or has doubts the dentist’s proposed treatment. For example: Your last dentist whom you’ve known and trusted for years may have retired, and now your new dentist finds cavities that your previous dentist never mentioned to you. It’s quite normal to feel hesitant to accepting treatment from the new dentist, and a second opinion might be the reassurance you need. You obviously don’t want someone drilling where there are no cavities but you also don’t want to just leave cavities in your teeth either.

I do not recommend that anyone proceed with dental treatment unless they have a high degree of confidence in their dentist. It’s extremely important that you completely trust your dentist or any doctor for that manner. If you don’t trust them then how do you know whether or not you’re getting the proper treatment?
